    வான்நின்று மண்ணின்று அளந்ததே வள்ளுவனார்

பொன்முடியார் - விளக்கம்

(பொ–ரை.) மாலையணிந்த அரசே! முன்பு காசிபன் தந்த குறள் மண்ணில் நின்று உலகத்தை அளந்தது; இன்று திருவள்ளுவர் தந்த குறள் மண்ணிலும் விண்ணிலும் நின்று உலகத்தையளந்தது.

Hey fragnant garlanded Pandya, Kashyapa gave before

Kural(Vaamanar), who measured everthing - With literary prowess,

standing upon sky and earth, measured everthing; is the Valluvan’s

work of Kural

* note: this translation will do no justice to the original thiruvalluva maalai work from Ponmudiyar, yet!

Kural one is the Vammana avatara of lord Vishnu and the second kural reffers to the thirukkural of thiruvalluvar; both being communioned by the similarity of two adi’s(feets).

It is said that the Cural (meaning Vishnu in his incarnation as a dwarf) produced by Casypa in times of yore measured the earth; but the Cural now produced by Valluvar has measured both the earth and the heaven. Edward Jewitt Robinson
